TRIPLET FALLS WALK – POINTS OF INTEREST

Triplet Falls got its name because of the three columns of water seen from the main observation point. The rightmost column provides the best view as the others are partially obstructed. You can use your imagination to picture just how impressive the falls would look if the flora was cleared.

The site was once a site of logging and deforestation. As such, you will encounter old logging equipment from the Knotts No.1 Sawmill Operation from back in the 1900s. The equipment is quite remarkable as they depict a battle between human greed and the forests will to survive. It is exciting to see how the now thriving foliage has surrounded (and is slowly claiming) the equipment. Life always finds a way?

ACCESSING THE FALLS

Disclaimer: this next section is not part of the official Triplet Falls Rainforest Walk.

Have you ever wanted to stand at the bottom of a waterfall that you could not see the top of? If yes, follow these instructions.

Beginning the Triplet Falls Rainforest Walk from the Triplet Falls car park, find the sign saying Little Aire Falls 2.3km left. Here, make sure you keep to the right and keep your eyes peeled for the first Triplet Falls lookout point.

Just to the left of the safety rail you will see a small unmarked path where people descend to get to the stream at the bottom. To make the descend easier, rotate your body and use the root system as if you were climbing down a ladder.

Once you have traversed to the bottom of the tree root network, you can follow the stream to the base of Triplet Falls. Look up and you will see platform upon platform of waterfall pools and dramatic flows of water pouring over the rocks.

It is easy to scale up the side of the falls if you don’t mind getting muddy!

There is a heap of cool hangout spots at the base of the falls and various spots to swim in.

Be sure to take your rubbish home with you if you are planning on having a waterfall picnic.
